In this painting, I wanted to create a sense of breath — of openness, stillness, and quiet expansion. The tall, poppy-like forms rise gently from a radiant garden of crimson, amber, and gold, each stem reaching upward as if in silent prayer. I see them as souls, voices, or family — emerging together in grace and presence.
The white background acts like a pause between thoughts — a field of pure possibility, a space where spirit and form meet. As I worked, I allowed the inks and molten gold to move intuitively, letting the forms emerge without force. It felt like a ceremony of becoming — each mark a meditation.
This piece is a gentle reminder for me to slow down, to listen, and to soften into the moment. The title, A Deep Sense of Spaciousness, speaks to the peace I feel when I let go and simply allow beauty to rise.
