Ascension Series of 5 paintings
This piece came through like a volcanic breath—elemental, raw, and undeniable. The Rebirth is not silent. It is a painting forged in fire, cracked open by transformation, and transmuted by alchemy into something fiercely luminous.
I began with gold, but not as ornament—rather as origin. A field of sacred metal, symbolic of the divine spark within all matter. Then, I disrupted it. I poured patinating agents, introduced corrosive chemicals, and watched the surface react with living will. The gold blistered, fractured, and bloomed with unexpected iridescence—rainbows born from wounds.
What emerged felt ancient and volcanic, like Earth’s molten memory rising to the surface. Layers of burnt umber, rust, ochre, and violet mingled with flashes of pink and green, as if a hidden spectrum had been freed from the bedrock of suppression.
Every mark on this painting is the residue of release—of something dying so something else could live. This is not a polished rebirth. It is cellular. It is cosmic. It is the soul clawing its way out of the old skin and howling into form.
The Rebirth is my own rising from the ashes—not the romantic version, but the real one. The messy, molten, miraculous re-forming of self when nothing familiar remains. Through alchemy and rupture, through chemical burn and gold’s endurance, I let this canvas become a living document of return.
Because rebirth doesn’t happen in the light alone. It happens in the dark, in the heat, in the surrender—and this painting carries the truth of that transformation.
