Diptych with ‘Ascension’

This powerful diptych explores the energetic tension between presence and transcendence. Both works are unified by a brooding monochrome palette, rich impasto textures, and an interplay of vertical black forms that resemble spirit-beings, silhouettes, or abstracted trees — simultaneously rooted and reaching.

In “Conversations”, the black figures appear mid-dialogue or exchange, clustered in intimate formations, as though transmitting wisdom through silence. A pale luminous orb floats above like a celestial witness. Fine white linework — like coded messages, pathways or frequencies — pulses through the composition, suggesting an unseen vibrational language. At the centre, a muted golden portal or pillar hints at guidance or divine alignment.

In “Ascension”, the forms become more elongated, stretching toward the golden column that now glows with increased brilliance. A sun — bright and assertive — takes the place of the moon, signifying evolution, illumination, and awakening. Here, the figures seem to rise, to transmute, in a movement from density into light.

Together, these works chart a metaphysical journey — from communion to transcendence, from inner dialogue to spiritual elevation. The black silhouettes, crowned with tiny golden sparks, may be ancestors, elemental beings, or aspects of the self navigating transformation. The diptych invites contemplation on the unseen realms, and the subtle forces guiding our path beyond the visible world.
