Painting for me is a form of meditation and expression of my current state of self. I paint the underlying narrative on the subsurface and then the story of the paintings progress in my mind during daylight and sleeping hours with days passing. The surfaces are progressively built up and frequently ‘cracked’ intentionally along with multiple layers and shades of gold.
I repeatedly paint over the same shapes removing colour and reapplying colour until the final image outcome feels satisfying and finalised.
I discover something unexpected, grounded and where layers form, line and expression are woven together. Mysticism, philosophy and curiosity are the frequent elements underlying my work.
The Covenant triptych was inspired by the period surrounding the total solar eclipse and the portals opening on 8.4.24.

A gateway stands open—silent, monumental, and golden. The form echoes a cloaked figure, temple doorway, or scriptural scroll. At its base, a lone dark glyph—a keeper, a self—enters the unknown. Above, a crescent hovers like an eclipsed moon or a watching eye. The entire surface is built with intention: gold leaf laid down, scraped back, weathered, and re-layered to mirror the process of spiritual unveiling. The gold is not just reflective—it is ritual. It holds the charge of reverence and quiet anticipation. This work is a meditation on thresholds: the silent moment before stepping through, when mystery stirs and something sacred calls. The portal does not shout. It listens.
