This painting poured out of me in a moment of vibrant surrender. As I worked with alcohol inks, I allowed colour to move like breath across the surface — uncontained, alchemical, alive. Each circular form felt like a doorway, a threshold into something luminous and unknowable. I see them as portals — to memory, to feeling, to spirit, to grace.
As I layered and shifted the inks, tiny faces began to emerge — some intentional, some accidental — like spirit beings revealing themselves through the veil. They hide quietly within the composition, as if watching, guiding, or simply being. These subtle presences infuse the work with a sense of mystery and sacred play.
The saturated blues above evoke celestial realms or deep water, while the rich reds, golds, and greens below feel rooted in the earth’s ecstatic bloom. Portals to Grace is an invitation to pause, soften, and sense the hidden worlds that lie just beyond the visible.
